Medina´s geographic
location is privileged for discovering the province of Cádiz.
There are almost virgin fine white sand beaches within half
an hour drive (El Palmar, La Barrosa, Caños de Meca,
Zahara…) and any other of the province´s beaches
(Tarifa, Rota, Chipiona) can be reached in less than an hour.
Of course, with more than three hundred sunny days in the
year, good weather is almost guaranteed. If it is too cold
for swimming, just taking a walk or having something to drink
or eat looking towards the ocean is a good plan for anyone
on vacation.
The city of Cádiz, Arcos or Jerez, with the sherry cellars
and the Andalusian School of Equestrian art, are some of the
trips which can be taken near Medina.
Nature and landscape lovers should not miss the “Alcornocales” (Corkoak
woods) Natural Park, with some of the best preserved Mediterranean
woods from Andalucia, and Grazalema Natural Park, a limestone
mountain range with one of the rare pinsapos´ (Abies
pinsapo) woods which remain in southern Spain.
Driving through this region will give the visitor the opportunity
of contemplating the breeding farms of fighting bulls which
surround Medina, with the majestic sight of these noble
beasts in their natural environment.
